Alphonse Mouson – The Man Incognito (1975)
Grizz says: This is the forth album from Alphonse in his long career which started when he was in his early teens. By the time he was 21 he was touring with the Roy Ayers who is known as one of the greatest Blaxplotation musicians of all time. Alphonse has mostly been known through the years as a classic composer of Jazz, Funk and Soul. He has played with the best of the best from Stevie Wonder to Eric Clapton and Carlos Santana. Robert Plant, the lead singer of Led Zeppelin, said in is induction speech to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame that Alphonse had been one of the band’s major influences, which is quite amazing since Mouzon was known as a Jazz Musician. His main talent was the drums and he was an absolute beast. He also became an expert at playing the flute, saxophone, piano and trumpet. Worldwide, Mouzon had been know through the past 20 years as one of the great multi-instrumentalists on the planet. So here i give you Mr. Incognito himself. Although, the picture doesn’t really say that at all.
Web says: Uncle Donnie was a great guy. He wasn’t technically my actual blood uncle but he and my dad played in a band together and had been friends since before I was born. He was the type of guy that was still stuck in 1974 but had this crazy way of making everybody in the room wish they were right there with him. He would walk around in his funny hat and glasses with a joint hanging out of his mouth like he was the fuckin LAW. So of course when my 15th birthday came around I invited him to my party. He had the best weed, the best stories and he was down to buy me and my friends beer. The party itself was historic. We drank Molson and smoked joints with Uncle Donnie like we had been doing it for years. The best part of the night was when he called Jeremy, the neighborhood rich kid, a “jive turkey” and Jeremy thought Uncle Donnie said he was super cool or some shit. All was good until my friend/school slut Sandra started to play Uncle Donnie a lil too close. That’s when Uncle Donnie said to me, “Jason, your friend Sandra has had a few too many drinks. I’m gonna give her a ride home”. Funny thing is, Sandra only lives 2 blocks away but Uncle Donnie was gone for like 3 hours. The next day the police came and took Uncle Donnie away. Now he’s doing 5-15 and has to take a shit everyday in front of another dude. Damn, you fucked up Uncle Donnie.
